21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21)
It is interesting to consider the spaces where the treasures burrow into our hearts, how
they become a part of us. Sometimes it is with longing and others it is with
contentment, but either way God offers us incredible treasures in our lives. A
community of people in church, the sunrise or sunset, the belly laugh of a child, a hug.
Often we do not recognize those treasures as such until they are gone, when you cannot
remember the voice of a loved one no longer with us, the snuggle of a child after they
have grown. I invite you this week to notice the events of your day, the simple things
that will someday become a memory, a memory that will become a treasure. The joy in
that moment, knowing you will hold it forever transforms the ordinary to a lasting
treasure.
