Mid-week Lenten Worship
Our setting for our mid-week
Lenten Worship this year features Lenten drama from “Whose Cross is it,
Anyway?” set in a short Night Prayer format. Please come join us for worship
as we make our Lenten journey together. Remember, Soup and Sandwich Potluck
suppers begin at 6:30 followed by worship at 7:30. Please come!
Lenten Soup and Sandwich
Potlucks:
Starting
Wednesday, Feb. 24, we will be having a soup and sandwich potluck before the
Lenten evening service which begins at 7:30. If at all possible, please
bring a dish to share. If that isn’t possible, we would still love to
see you there. We will start eating at 6:30pm. If anyone is
available to help set up or clean up, we can always use the help! Hope
to see you there!
Change???? I like the way things used to be. I feel left out, out of touch with just
about everything and everyone. People
are changing before my eyes and why can’t things continue the way they
were? I’m lost and need someone to
express my concerns to. A Stephen Minister is there to help you find your
way.

Free for You –
Priceless for Them
According to the World
Health Organization, 153 million people have uncorrected refractive
errors. Most of these vision
impairments are quickly diagnosed and easy to treat with corrective
lenses. Still, millions of people are
pushed deeper into poverty simply because they do not have glasses. They cannot learn, because reading is difficult. They cannot work to the best of their
ability because they cannot see clearly.
For children, clear vision means a better education, healthier
development and a better quality of life.
For adults, it means greater employment opportunity and economic
strength. For seniors it means less
dependence on others. Imagine if you
could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, a senior maintain their
independence. YOU CAN! Gather up all of your old eyeglasses, bring
them to church and drop them in the box provided in the narthex. The glasses will be delivered to a local Lions
Club where they will begin a journey to accomplish these life-changing
results. With this one small
act you can create a big change.
Kids Against
Hunger
Today we have several different activities surrounding Kids
Against Hunger. As you leave the Sanctuary today there will be an
opportunity to make a very noisy offering! As well, there will be
taste testing available - you can sample the same meals that you will
assemble on May 8th. Finally - and super important - we will begin
signing up participants today. We will be recruiting 120 helpers -
please be one (or more). To sign up see the Thrivent table in the
Narthex (there are volunteers there to help with sign-up for the event).
Kids Against
Hunger Update
As many of you may know, we are raising $2,800 to assemble
10,000 meals to feed hungry children on May 8th. Before that can
happen we need to raise the money. Little Saints children have raised
over $450 to date through their weekly chapel offerings.
The weekly Lenten offerings are also being contributed towards this
event - and now the noisy offerings are being added (last week you
donated more than $130). Thrivent Financial for Lutherans - Livingston
County Chapter has agreed to match our fundraising 3:1 with a maximum match of
$700. Please give generously to this worthy and fun-filled event.
Mom To Mom - April 17th
Buyers - mark your calendars and start saving you $. Early bird
entry is at 8:30 for $2 and regular admission will begin at 9:00 for $1. The sale lasts until 1:00 on the 17th.
Sellers - to rent a table or with questions, email Jenny Stromlund at
Stromlund@Hughes.net. Basic rates are $20 for an 8' table, with additional
fees for large items and hanging racks.
Proceeds for this event
will benefit Little Saints. If any ministry or
group is interested in sponsoring a table, please see Jenny or Theresa Kull
for details.

“Christmas In
Action” workday is Saturday, April, 24, 2010
“Christmas In Action”
workday is made up of volunteers who are willing to commit to one day to help
with free home repairs for low-income seniors. These repairs allow the seniors to remain
safe, warm and independent in their own homes. This will be the 3rd year that
All Saints Lutheran Church has put together a group to help. Please join us for this year’s workday on
Saturday, April 24th, 2010 in the Waterford area. The workday usually runs from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.,
depending on the repairs needed. For
breakfast, donuts, muffins and coffee are provided, along with lunch and
dinner. T-shirts are provided for all
volunteers. Last year we had a group
of about 20 All Saints members. This
year we would love to double that. You
don’t have to be a skilled tradesman to help.
There will be a poster in the narthex which gives information about
the program, along with volunteer forms on the narthex cupboard. Anyone who is 12 years of age by workday,
April 24th, can participate.
Volunteers under 18 years of age must have the Parental Consent form
signed and notarized. I would like to
have all completed applications turned in no later than March, 28th to the
church or myself. On workday, we will
meet in the church parking lot and carpool to our worksite. If you have any tools, rakes, shovels, etc.
that you can bring for the day, that is much appreciated. If you have any questions about this
wonderful organization or volunteer workday, please feel free to call Lynn
Swain at 248-889-2161.
Relay for Life - Team All Saints NEXT MEETING: TODAY, Sunday, March 7th
following the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
I Relay
for my father...Who do you relay for?
So many of
us have been affected by cancer. A loved one, a friend, a neighbor, a
co-worker, or even yourself.
This is the year
that many of us are joining forces to help the fight against cancer. Team All
Saints is on its way to making strides this year at the Hartland Relay for
Life event at Hartland
High School on May
15-16.
Like a cancer
grows, so our Team needs to grow, only faster.
Some basics
1) This is the
40th Birthday of Relay for Life.
2) This year's
theme, "Under the Big Top".
3) You are not
required to walk to be a member of the team.
4) For gaining
team/personal donations, American Cancer Society (ACS) does have a pre
designed web page if you choose to utilize this tool. Yes, I will give
computer lessons and technical support. :)
5) You are not
required or expected to actually be at the event the full 24 hours. We work
out a schedule so we have one or more team members walking on the track at
all times, you are welcome to come for your shift and then leave when you
finish, or stay to cheer on your team.
6) This is a
wonderful opportunity for community PR and outreach not just for All
Saints, but each Ministry of All Saints as well.
7) Anyone can
join our team. Invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers, family.
8) There is no
age requirement.
9) If you own
your own business and would like to sponsor our team or this event, you are
rewarded with perks.
10) There is an
SPC3 Cancer Screening event happening Saturday, May 21 in Brighton.
This is an ACS study and is in need of volunteers as well as participants.
More details can be found on the Brighton Relay for Life (R4L) website:
www.relayforlife.org/brightonmi
Join our team,
join the fun, and join the fight against cancer.

Prayer Requests & Updates
The list of prayer requests
is available on a one-page handout, available at the information desk. Prayer
requests can be forwarded to: coppout3@aol.com or office@myallsaints.com;
by calling Karen Walker at 517.546.4948; or fill out a prayer request form
available in the narthex. Unless otherwise noted, prayer requests will remain
on the list for one month. Of course, if you have a long-term need, your
request will remain on the list.
The dedicated team of
pray-ers has established an “emergency need” prayer phone chain. Since email
is often read only once or twice daily, (or less often for some), if you have
an urgent or emergency need for prayer, please call Karen Walker at
517.546.4948. Karen will forward the request to a team of 4 or 5 individuals
(as well as have the email prayer request communicated) and we will begin
sharing God’s healing powers immediately.
