sunday Worship: 8:30 aM, 11:00 AM, & 7:00 PM           Day of pentecost

Holy Communion at All Saints is open to all baptized Christians who put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Grape juice is available in the center rings of each tray.  Children and adults who are not communing are invited to come forward for a blessing.  Hands folded and head bowed will indicate to the pastor a blessing is desired.  Hands open and uplifted will indicate when the sacrament is desired.  If it would be difficult for you to participate in communion at the altar, please tell an usher and they will communicate this to the pastor(s) so you can receive communion and remain seated.

Welcome Visitors!

We are glad you are here!  Please sign the visitor’s book on the table by the front door as you leave today!  We hope that you will join us again for worship!  If you have questions about ASLC, please call us at 248.887.8060.

Did you Like That Sermon?

Don’t forget that a summary of each sermon can be found on our website.  They are also available in the office if
you ask.

Communion Bread

In celebration of Confirmation Sunday, and Mother’s Day on May 11th, and First Communion Sunday on May 18th, our High School Youth and CDT students have baked the communion bread for both weeks. What a great gift from our youth!

Nursery Hours

During the 8:30 service the nursery is available as a parent supervised cry room. For the 11:00 service the nursery is staffed and available 10 minutes prior to service.  We ask that you pick your child up within 10 minutes after service concludes.  As a courtesy to all families and volunteer workers, we ask that you refrain from allowing children to bring food into the nursery.  Exceptions are made for teacher and attendant supervised snacks.

Many thanks…

Last Saturday, we had 14 hard-working people come to church for the big clean-up and chili cook-off event at All Saints. A lot of work got done, and a lot of chili got eaten! Great fun was had by all.
THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED!

Bible Study

Morning Bible studies are held every Wednesday morning.  The 9:00 class is studying the Old Testament prophets and the 10:00 class is studying The Beatitudes.  Remember, daycare is available.  Please join us for these very interesting and informative studies led by Pastor Ron.

If You Want to Walk on Water,

You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat

We are inviting the congregation to join Stephen Ministry as we study “If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg. This study has already begun, and we will continue to meet from 7 – 8 p.m. on 5/15, 6/5, 6/19, and 7/17 at church, it’s not too late to join us! If you’d like to buy the book (it’s a really good read!) the ISBN# is 13-978-0-310-22863-9 and can be ordered from Amazon.com or found at local Christian bookstores. Mid-Saints 20-40 something’s group

Is meeting at church on Friday, May 16th @ 7 p.m. If you are looking for a night out this is the night for you. This group is growing but we would like it to get bigger. Please spread the word. This month we are going to play Pictionary. Please bring a small snack or drink to share. (a bag of chips or 6 pack of pop would be enough) Childcare is available to those who need it, at a $5.00 donation per family. Please respond to Laura Drzazgowski how many children you are bringing so we have enough staff for childcare. This event is free and open to anyone in the age range listed above, so if you have any friends or family that would like to join us, please invite them. This is a great night to get out and meet other people your age. See you there!

Silver Saints

Our next event will be THIS FRIDAY, May 16th and it will be a movie with dessert afterward at a nearby restaurant. The movie is Young At Heart which is a documentary about a group of senior citizens. They start a singing group that does rock and roll music. We will meet at All Saints at 6:45 to car pool to the Maple Theatre located at 4135 West Maple Road, Bloomfield Hills MI 48301. This event is a fundraiser for several mission trips that are being planned by the members of ASLC, including a trip to Costa Rica in February 2009, a trip to an Indian reservation yet to be selected, and mission work in Detroit in conjunction with members of Shepherd of the Lakes Church and St. Olaf’s Church.  A portion of the proceeds will be matched by Thrivent.

Power And Light Meetings

We are planning a series of meetings from June 1st through June 21st to talk about our South Campus: South Lyon Power And Light. These meetings are meant to give you an update on where we currently are with our outreach ministry, and what our future plans are. The gatherings are also meant to give YOU the opportunity to ask questions and even more important: share your ideas. Every thought is welcome!

These meetings are supposed to take place in a relaxed setting with a lot of fun, food and fellowship: Let’s have some BBQ!........

But we need your help in terms of people hosting these meetings. You can either host a meeting at your place or - if this is not possible – at the church. Each meeting would be for about 10 to 15 people on a Wednesday or Saturday evening or on a Sunday afternoon.  If you are willing to host one of these gatherings or have further questions: please contact Pr. Pamela or the church office.

Social Concerns & Health Ministry News

The Social Concerns & Health Ministry Committee has permission from the Council to purchase a defibrillator (AED) for All Saints. Our group has met with “The AED Guy” who demonstrated several models. Because we have the pre-school on site, we have decided to purchase one that can also be used for children. The AED will be mounted on the wall outside the Sanctuary, near the Library door, so that it will be highly visible and easily accessible. It is to be used ONLY by lay persons who have received training in CPR and AED use. If you are CPR/AED certified, please call Carol Hinkle at 810.360-0809 or send an email to chinkle923@yahoo.com. If you would be willing to attend a 6 hour training to become CPR/AED certified, also please let Carol know. She is arranging a training session to b e held for All Saints in the near future. Welcome Team and Worship Team members, as well as Pre-School staff are strongly encouraged to participate in this training. The more people we have trained the better chance someone’s life can be saved in an emergency. Keep your eyes open for the new defibrillator which should be arriving soon.

Drink Pouches, Foil-Type Cookie Wrappers,
and Kool-Aid Packets

What do these items have in common? Believe it or not – there are companies out there that make purses out of these recycled items! Little Saints has joined in a recycling program that “reuses” these items, many of which you may purchase at home today. Please save these items and bring them in. There is a green covered box in the hallway towards the bathrooms that is labeled for collecting these items. If you drop them off you can accomplish two important goals – taking care of the Earth that God has entrusted to our care and raising money for Little Saints! (Yes, they pay us to send in these items!) This is an on-going event so if you are on break during the summer – bring them back!

Cash Back

Are you buying spring flowers at Colasanti’s? Our church can get cash back. Save the receipts from Colasanti’s Produce and from VG’s Markets so the church can earn a percentage of what you spend. Please put the receipts into the clear plastic box on the window sill, near the bathrooms. Campbell’s labels can also be stashed in the huge soup can located there. Thank you! – Kate Phillips

Recycling

Our church would greatly appreciate it if you could bring in all of your paper recycling – newspapers, magazines, ad circulars, junk mail, school work, and office paper. We earn a regular monthly income when you add these to the green bins in the parking lot, and save cubic yards of landfill each month. Help us keep them full! Please don’t add any cardboard, and be sure to bag shredded paper in paper or plastic. We thank you ever so much! – Kate Phillips
