Do YOU Know the Good News?

Here we grow again!

Please take time to meet and greet our newest disciples Re and Gary Danczyk and The Kahls, Will, Melanie, Adam, and Nathan, who formally joined us on Palm Sunday.  The Kahls attend 8:30, with Melanie sharing the gift of song and the entire family sharing the gift of smiles. The Danczyks attend at 11:00.  Re has a heart for gardening, children, and baking.  Gary has a heart for stewardship, property, and gardening.  We are blessed to have them in our midst.

From the Interim Senior Pastor

Wow!  What a difference a year makes!  As this is being written I am aware that I first visited among you and preached here about a year ago.  There were many matters to deal with right off the bat - the normal grief process a congregation goes through when a pastor departs, the anxiety of staff and leaders over what they should/should not do next, the fears and concerns of many that the previous pastor’s departure meant the end of all things that were meaningful to them so far as All Saints was concerned, questions of finances, mission, outreach, and so much more.

Relay for Life - All Saints Life Savers

Register, Register, Register
It is important that we get more of our team registered with the American Cancer Society for this event. These are numbers that help them for future planning. As of now, our team has 8 official registrants. If you would like a paper copy of the registration form, I have them in my mailbox at church, #13. Please fill one out and I can return in at my next team captain meeting. It is important as it helps with plans for future Relay for Life events.

Yard Sale!!!!
In the front yard between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Saturday, May 22, hosted by the Property Committee. We will be selling some antiques and collectibles including an oak center-post dining table, sewing cabinet, some Griswold skillets, a few 100-year-old leather-bound books, fishing lures, golf clubs, kids’ toys and a whole lot more. We will also attempt to sell the Grasshopper riding mower, lightly used (312 hours), and has new blades.

Confirmation Class 2010

This year on May 23rd, we will confirm four students at the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Those being confirmed are: Josie Smith, Jensyn Bradley, Chelsea Kinzel, and Emily Tretyak. Please offer your support and congratulations as they proceed into this new phase of their relationship and participation with our congregation.

Day of Pentecost

On Sunday, May 23rd we celebrate the Day of Pentecost in the church year. This year at both worship services we are planning to read Acts 2:1-21 in as many different languages as possible. If you are able to speak and read this text in a foreign language, please contact Pastor Mary, Jo Ellyn Bernardin, Kate Zywicki, or Karen Parrish.

Thank You Notes

On April 15th we provided lodging for five members of the band Captive Free East Lakes. They stayed at the parish house, and left this thank you note:
Dear All Saints – Thank you so much for allowing us to use your parish house as our house for the night. We had such a nice relaxing time. We hope you continue to host Captive Free teams! PS – follow us online at youthencounter.org/eastlakes

Also from our College kids –

Dear All Saints – thanks so much for remembering me with all the college “treats”! They are always a needed surprise, and make my day! Thanks again, Kyle Taylor

Dear All Saints – Thank you. You didn’t have to, but you did anyway! Thank you for the care package. Sincerely, Jeff Ostermiller

Call Committee

We now have a call committee in place, and the transition team is preparing to hand over the process of preparing to find a new, permanent, senior pastor to this group. We have a dynamic team that includes people from a wide range of age and experience, and both All Saints locations are represented (Hartland and South Lyon)

How Can YOU Help Save a Life?

The answer is quite simple; participate in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study 3 or CPS3. There are only THREE requirements: 1) You are between the ages of 30-65.  2) You have never been diagnosed with cancer.  3) Your are willing to take about 45 minutes every few years to update the American Cancer Society on your health status, changes, etc. Cancer has no prejudice to age, gender, sex, ethnicity...and neither does this study. Join me on Friday, May 21 at the Brighton Really Event to become a part of this historic event that may just save the life someone you love.

For more information, visit the CPS-3 website: www.relayforlife.org/brighton.mi and look for the Cancer Prevention Study-3 link in the purple box to the left.

Recycling Update

This month we received a check for $28.69 from Abitibi Paper Recycling. We earned $15.98 in February and $12.71 in March, and saved 9.95 cubic yards of landfill space in March. Keep those papers coming in to the green bins at the back of the parking lot!

Council Member Contact List

Do you have a question, comment or concern? Do you know who to turn to? Council! Yes, that’s right! Council was elected by the congregation to lead the congregation and make decisions regarding the church. In order to effectively do that, council needs feedback and they would love to hear from you.
