Do YOU Know the Good News? The June WOW award was presented to June and Marty Mills. They are long time disciples who steadfastly and faithfully serve the Lord with their many gifts. June has been responsible for many of the banners and altar linens that you see. Marty has probably made many of the crosses you see the worship participants wearing as well as many congregation members. He has also made crosses to present to First Communicants. Their work may be behind the scenes, but the beauty and glory they bring to God is unmistakable. From the Interim Senior Pastor Greetings and blessings to all as we head into summer 2010! I bring you several bits of news that may be of interest. First, with regret, I must inform you that our Synod Bishop, The Rev. Stephen Marsh, has resigned his position. Bp. Marsh has been in treatment for addiction issues, and finds a need to re-enter residential treatment in order to ensure his continued recovery. As this treatment is of an indefinite period of time, he felt he could not faithfully discharge his duties as bishop in the near future. His resignation was accepted with regret by the SE Michigan Synod Council and we were notified of this on June 25th. Please keep him, our Synod staff and Council and our congregation in your prayers. I have been asked whether this will have any particular impact on All Saints’ call process, and I don’t believe it will. Thoughts from our Council President You elect your council members each year to represent and work for the disciples of Jesus Christ who worship at All Saints. We all take that commission very seriously and do our best to fulfill it. As hard as we try to respond to and anticipate problems, there are always issues of which we are simply unaware or may not recognize as being serious to others. Worship at South Lyon Power & Light
What's Happening at South Lyon Power & Light Greetings! Millicent is away at her post keeping track of cats and other lesser breeds and has asked me to crank something out pendi pendi. How my dog knows Swahili, l don’t know! l am sure you have watched with unmitigated horror the slow moving monstrosity that is the oil leak, no better barbarous horde, unleashed on the innocence of the Gulf Coast. All Saints Adoption Adopt-A-Road that is. MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) has a program call Adopt-A-Road. As a community-outreach project, we have joined the State sponsored program by adopting the stretch of M-59 from Fenton Road, west, to Clark Street ( a 2 mile stretch). Our name is posted on road signs at the beginning of our zone. Have a look. We have set the day for the litter pick-up for Saturday, July 24th. We need your help. Don't forget our Food Pantry and LACASA With unemployment growing in this area we are finding more and more people using not only our food pantry but also the Community Sharing Food Pantry. We would like to help those in need by stocking our pantry with items like canned goods of all types. We will also be collecting Dog and Cat food this month. Extra food items will be donated to the Community Sharing Food Pantry, located at the Apollo School. Thank you for all your help. LACASA is an organization that helps those men and women in an abusive situation. We can help also by donating cleaning supplies for those finding themselves in a difficult situation. Both the Food and Cleaning Supplies can be dropped off in the marked baskets, located in the narthex around the corner from the rose stained glass window. Take Time to Enjoy our Wildlife Wild Corner! Have you noticed the busy parent tree swallows and bluebirds feeding their families in our dedicated sacred space behind the church? Walk the meditation trails and enjoy the wildlife and native plants in our beautiful wild area. The native plants support the insect species that provide protein for the birds to feed their young. We are so blessed to have this natural area as part of our ministry to Creation! Call Committee Our call committee is in place and is working the process to find a new, permanent, senior pastor for All Saints. This is a dynamic team that includes people from a wide range of age and experience, and both All Saints locations are represented (Hartland and South Lyon). Thank You! The Confirmation Class of 2010 would like to thank the ASLC congregation for all their support, prayers and best wishes as they celebrated their confirmation on Sunday, May 23rd. There have been a few inquiries regarding the Call to Worship song chosen for the service. Here are the words of the song “AS IS” which has special meaning to this class. The song was written by Peder Eide a worship leader, musician and performer many ASLC youth experienced at Youth Quake in January.
