Do You Know the Good News?

Gratitude and thanks always come back to you!  This year All Saints via Little Saints Christian Preschool received a letter of thanks from a family that received support and gifts last year.  This family noted how meaningful and helpful this support was to them in helping them get back on their feet.

From the Interim Senior Pastor

“Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith…” (Hebrews 12: 1-2a, NRSV)

What Do We Want to be When We Grow Up?

Make sure that January 24th; 3:00PM to 5:00PM is marked on your calendar.  The Transition Team is planning an event that is our next important step in defining who we are and what kind of a pastor we will want to call.  As the title says, "Who do we want to be?"  What makes us tick and click as a community and family; what are the understandings about how we operate that underlie our life at All Saints?

Who was that Masked man?

Well, actually, he or she doesn't have to be wearing a mask, they just might be someone you meet after church, and get talking to.  Hasn't this happened to you?  All of a sudden you're into a conversation about some shared interest, and you have no clue with whom you're talking.  Or maybe someone walks by and says, "I'd love to help out on your committee, give me a call and let me know when the next meeting is."  And they're gone.

ROCK - Middle School Youth Group News

ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?
The Rock, ASLC middle-school youth group is moving back to Monday nights, beginning Monday, January 18th.  We know this is MLK day, and we normally don’t meet on days that school is not in session.  But we can’t wait to get things going again.  To start, we will be meeting in the new Youth Room (where the nursery used to be) in the church building (not the Parish House basement).  We hope to have a movie to watch on our first meeting; along with finding out what your Happy/Crappy events were for the holidays.  So join us, we meet from 6:30 – 8pm.  Bring a friend and get a prize!  Questions?  Call Gina Tretyak @ 248 887 1858 or email gtretyak887@comcast.net. See you there!

Youth Groups Thank You!

All the youth that participated in the Pancake breakfasts of December 6th and 13th want to say THANK-YOU to all who stayed and let us serve you breakfast and lent us your support.  We also want to thank all the parents who so generously supported our two events by providing food and service.  We were never without help, right down to the last dish being washed and put away.  Each youth who participated earned a portion of the proceeds to use towards Youth Quake, The Gathering, Bass Lake or Confirmation/Youth Camp.  Expect to hear from our youth as they return from their events!

Recycling Update

In November All Saints received a check for $17.16, and saved 10.70 cubic yards of landfill space from the paper collected in our green Abitibi bins in the parking lot. Remember, your old newspapers, magazines, junk mail, school papers, and shredded paper (in bags, please) can be added to the bins and earn money for our church.

Good Search

We received our earnings check from GoodSearch, $9.47 from October, 2008 through November, 2009. Keep searching!

Here are three keys to substantially increasing the money you earn:
1. Remind everyone to begin their holiday shopping at GoodShop.
2. Ask your local businesses to buy their office supplies on your behalf via GoodShop. All of the top stores including Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax are on-board!
3. Ask all of your supporters to download the new GoodSearch/GoodShop Toolbar to ensure that every search and purchase count!

Kroger Community Rewards

At the end of November we received our Kroger Community Rewards check for $186.42 earned by our members who linked their Kroger Plus Cards to All Saints organization and shopped at Kroger between August 1st, 2009 and October 31st, 2009.

Colasanti's Market

Thanks to all who turn in their shopping receipts from Colasanti’s. This month we received a check for $33.16! Receipts from Colasanti’s and VG’s are collected in the plastic box on the windowsill in the hallway.

SCRIP Program

What is SCRIP?  It is fundraising while you shop for the things that you would buy anyway.  All you have to do is purchase a gift card through ASLC and a portion of the price is returned to the church.  There are hundreds of retailers to choose from!  And they’re not only good for yourself, they make great Christmas gifts!  And the best part is that by purchasing them you can help out the church without fundraising.  See Suzanne Compton today between services and after the 11am service to purchase SCRIP’s.  Any questions, she can also be reached at 248-887-4267

Council Member Contact List

Do you have a question, comment or concern? Do you know who to turn to? Council! Yes, that’s right! Council was elected by the congregation to lead the congregation and make decisions regarding the church. In order to effectively do that, council needs feedback and they would love to hear from you.
