Do YOU Know the Good News?

Sunday and Wednesday morning studies continue to grow and thrive. Come check it out, and Men in Mission met in April to explore the Spiritual Gifts they are given by God. They are the first of this congregation to refocus on this important exploration of ministry. They have inspired your DLM to launch this as a full-blown effort in the fall.

Pastor's Corner by Rev. David M. Jahn

I really wrestled with my article for the Pastor’s Corner this month. Lori was not at all comfortable with it. We both feel strongly that what a person gives to God should be very private. Jesus spoke against those who gave alms in any way that drew attention to themselves. He said that you shouldn’t even let your “right hand know what your left hand is doing”. In the end though, I wrote what I wrote in this month’s Pastor’s Corner because I feel that there is a financial crisis facing our nation, our state, and the people of All Saints.

Pele's Corner

As you can see on the picture above I recently spent some time in Arizona. I know what this looks like, but no: I was not there for vacation! (At least not entirely.) Pr. Pamela went to Tempe / Arizona, for a “Churches Starting Churches” conference. And as a very mission driven teddy bear I felt the need to accompany her . (Although, most of the time I let Pr. Pamela do the work)

Have You Laughed Today?

Laughter makes you live longer - or so they say.

Two women are shipwrecked on an island. Soon after reaching the island one of the women starts to panic and screams: “We’re going to die! We’re going to die! There is no food, no water, no shelter! We’re going to die!” The other one - propped up against a palm tree - is pretty relaxed. She doesn’t seem to be concerned at all. The first woman is still panicking and screaming: “We’re going to die! We’re going to die!

South Campus News

I wish I finally could tell you: We have a place in South Lyon. But I can’t. That is the bad news. The good news is that we are getting very close! The location finding team is currently looking at a very nice site which meets pretty much all of the requirements for what we want to do at our south campus. We only need to clarify a few things with the city of South Lyon, and get the permission to hold assemblies at this site.

Stephen Ministry

Background: Stephen Ministries Director of Communications Joel Bretscher is a former competitive swimmer and swim coach. He created this devotion while serving as an adult chaperone on a Katrina-relief mission trip with a high school youth group from his church. He began by leading the group through a series of stretches to get the kinks and tightness out of their muscles after a long day of work. While stretching, he told them about these six elements to spiritual training.

Little Saints Christian Preschool

In the Purple room, we are busy learning about insects and nature and spring and planting!  The children went on a bug hunt and caught all kinds of insects!  We liked making projects that related to insects as well.  We have been practicing our songs for our Mother’s Day tea that will be held the first week of May; it ties in with a Garden theme.  We will finish off this month learning about seeds and planting and how the beauty of nature is a gift from God.  What wonderful things he provides for us all!

Vacation Bible School

As you start making your summertime commitments, please remember to mark the week of July 28th through August 1st as VBS at All Saints!  The kids of All Saints and all of our friends and neighbors are invited to swing through a Rainforest Adventure from 9am until noon.  We will be offering music, science, crafts and games for kids entering preschool through the 6th grade.  Details about pre-registration will be coming soon!

Wild Corner

To show our commitment to the care of Creation, All Saints will be growing our unmown field behind the church into a sacred space. We will be dedicating the area as a “Wild Corner”. The Wild Corner program was developed to gain acceptance for unmown areas in residential areas through providing recognition and signage for those who have set apart part of their property as wildlife habitat.
