Important Summer Camp News
LTS (Leadership Training School)
We are still looking for two senior high youth to participate in LTS (Leadership Training School) at Camp Michi-Lu-Ca this summer, July 27th thru August 1st. ASLC pays the week’s camp fees for our two participants each year. Camp only allows each congregation to send one female and one male camper each year.
What is LTS and who can participate?
LTS is a program for high school students who have completed 9-12 grades. If you are a student who has leadership potential and would like to grow in your faith and leadership skills, this is for you! You will spend the week in a community of growing leaders while being trained in Peer Ministry.
What do I do if I want to represent ASLC this year?
If you want to be the male or female representative for ASLC this year, you simply need to contact Jacquie Read at 248-535-2754 or 248-887-5830 ASAP, preferably prior to April 15th.
Do I need to pay for this week at camp?
Your only expenses will be transportation to and from camp and any spending money you want to take with you. The weekly fee for camp is paid for by the ASLC congregation. We may also be able to help with transportation if the cost is prohibitive.
It Is Bass Lake Music Festival Registration Time!
very soon to meet the early registration deadline. Please get your registration forms and fees turned in to Jacquie Read by April 20th. Call Jacquie if you want to attend but will have trouble getting your fees to her by the registration deadline. She can be reached at 248-535-2754 or 248-887-5830. We also want to remind all families that scholarships are available for those that need them. We do not want any youth to not participate in this GREAT activity due to an inability to pay the fees. You can contact Jacquie or Pastor Dave for information on scholarships. If you need more information on anything related to Bass Lake, call Jacquie Read at 248-535-2754 or 248-887-5830.
What is the Bass Lake Music Festival?
Bass Lake is a Christian Music Festival for high school aged youth which provides an “outside the box,” grace-filled experience of the Christian faith! Through great music and unique learning opportunities (including workshops, demonstrations, fellowship, worship, and Bible studies) campers will share the Gospel with senior high youth from all backgrounds. Join us in the beautiful outdoor setting of Michi-Lu-Ca in a relaxed and community-centered atmosphere.
When is the Bass Lake Music Festival this year?
The festival will begin on August 8th and runs through August 11th.
How much does it cost to attend?
The registration fee is $85 per camper for those we register by May 1st. (You need to get your registration and fees turned in to Jacquie Read by April 20th so we can meet that deadline.) The fee rises to $95 after May 1st and to $105 after July 1st. The fee for early registration includes a T-shirt. We will later collect $30-40 from each camper for meals. That money is due at the preplanning meeting that is held a few weeks prior to camp. Campers also usually bring money for personal spending to buy cds, t-shirts and other items. We also ask that each camper bring money to purchase their own lunch on the trip home.
Why do we sign up for Bass Lake as a group?
Each church group camps at a large campsite with all of the participants from their church and prepares and eats their meals there. We also gather for Congregation time in the evenings.
What forms do I need to have filled out and what is needed for registration?
To register we need your name, your parent’s name, your address, phone number, birth date, an email address if available, and your shirt size along with your registration fees. Youth that will reach the age of 18 on or before August 8th, 2008 must also turn in an Adult Screening form with their registration. This is a form required by the State of Michigan.
Prior to leaving for camp you must also have completed the following forms: Bass Lake Camper Covenant, the two page Health History, and Liability Waiver and Communications Release. Please bring all completed forms to the preplanning meeting.
You will find all of these forms following this article. Additional copies of the forms can be found through the links at: http://www.elcalivingwater.com/basslake/register.html
What else do I need to know to participate?
After we register, one of the adult leaders will contact you regarding a final planning meeting. At that meeting we will figure out our transportation needs, plan our meals, collect funds to pay for our meals, plan for meal preparation and turn in our completed forms.
Why should I attend?
Bass Lake is an awesome and life changing experience. Come join us as we explore and share our faith in a beautiful setting.
