Mission Team

Are You Being Called To Do Mission Work? I Am, You Are, We All Are!

The earlier article reminded us that God calls us to serve in our own communities and throughout the world. The All Saints mission team is trying to follow God's direction through our planned and future projects. We want everyone at ASLC to have the opportunity to serve on a mission project big or small.

Help is needed to identify, organize and participate in all future mission projects. We need folks with the heart to lead to "champion" some of these other ideas. Has the Holy Spirit been tugging at you? Is this what you are called to do?

If you think you may want to take charge of and plan a mission activity call Kate Zywicki @ 248-318-9098 and she will get you plugged in. It can be an idea the group has already considered or maybe you have another great idea.

What are those projects or what might they be? There are many ideas being considered including taking a team to an Indian Reservation in the US and working on a joint project with other local area churches to improve a site in the city of Detroit. Not to mention the many mission activities we do throughout the year such as the Souper Bowl of Caring, Food Baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas Gifts for Disadvantaged Youth, and Christmas in Action.

Do you want to participate on the mission team or on an actual project? Watch the weekly Heralds and monthly Communicators for the dates and times the team meets. Join us! Everyone is encouraged to come and share their ideas and to help with the planning.

Do You Love an Auction?

Join the ASLC Mission Team on the evening of May 17th for a great silent auction. You will be able to bid on an eclectic range of items including but not limited to: restaurant gift cards, a basket of treats for your dog, an oil change, and maybe even airline tickets! There are too many great items to list and items are just starting to come in so you will just have to come on by and join in the fun. Don't miss the event and then regret that you missed out on a great bargain! There will also be some fantastic musical entertainment provided by the group Drake and Pastor Dave's NEW band, Fat Tuesday. Drake is a band that our youth have heard at the Bass Lake Festival for many years and really enjoy. As with all Mission Team fundraisers, ten percent will go back to fund other mission projects and ten percent will be given to the general fund of ASLC. Contact one of our silent auction organizers, Diana Taylor at 517-552-0834 or Jacquie Read at 248-887-5830 if you have any questions or would like to donate something.

You Would Be Surprised At How You Can Help!

The ASLC Mission Team is holding a silent auction on the evening of May 17th. The event will also feature live musical entertainment including the band, Drake.

We are looking for donations of items to be auctioned off. One of our Thrivent reps has provided us with many ideas for items to be auctioned besides those we get from businesses in the community.

Let us know if you might donate an auctionable item. We can restrict any item to be sold in any way you want. For instance, maybe you do not want it sold outside of the ASLC family.

Her ideas included:

  • A weekend at a cabin, maybe you have a cabin that sits empty many weekends.
  • A pool party in your backyard or on your beach.
  • Are you an artist or crafter, maybe you can donate one of your projects or a lesson or two on how you do your craft.
  • Are you a teacher, how about a donation of a few hours of tutoring time.
  • Are you a grandma that loves kids, maybe you can donate a few hours of babysitting.
  • Do you have a business that provides services and not products, maybe you can offer a free service.
  • A planner, how about planning and running a kids birthday party for a parent that works and does not have the time.

We of course will accept items and products from any business that would like to donate to the cause. The team is covering the majority of our local communities but if you know of a business that has an item they would like to donate let us know. Maybe a family member or friend owns a business outside of our area but would like to help.

Use your imagination. If you love to do something there is a good chance someone else dislikes it just as much and would be willing to pay for the service.

Contact one of our silent auction organizers, Jacquie Read, @ 248-887-5830 if you have any questions or would like to donate something.
