Social Concerns News

Free for you, priceless for them.

According to the World Health Organization, 153 million people have uncorrected refractive errors.  Most of these vision impairments are quickly diagnosed and easy to treat with corrective lenses.  Still, millions of people are pushed deeper into poverty simply because they do not have glasses.  They cannot learn, because reading is difficult.  They cannot work to the best of their ability because they cannot see clearly.  For children, clear vision means a better education, healthier development and a better quality of life.  For adults, it means greater employment opportunity and economic strength.  For seniors it means less dependence on others.  Imagine if you could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, a senior maintain their independence.  YOU CAN!  Gather up all of your old eyeglasses, bring them to church and drop them in the box provided in the narthex.  The glasses will be delivered to a local Lions Club where they will begin a journey to accomplish these life-changing results.   With this one smallact you can create a big change.

A Tisket, A Tasket, we are going to ask you to help fill a Basket!!!

The Social Concerns committee will once again be donating a food basket to those that may not have enough food to enjoy an Easter celebration.  With your help we can make Easter a little brighter for those individuals that have little food.  Look for the sign up in the Narthex and watch the Herald for more information.

Heart Healthy Month was a great success thanks to you, our concerned patients, and all the nurses that helped with the blood pressure screening. Thank you also to those that made the healthy muffins and gathered the Heart healthy information so we all are in the know of how to keep our heart beating strong.

Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
(Matthew 25: 37-40)
