Little Saints Christian Preschool The Preschool Director - Mrs. Kull As a kick-off to Lutheran Schools Week the children of Little Saints have been busy preparing to share their singing talents with the All Saints family by learning two songs that Pastor Dave has been teaching them during weekly chapel. The week is packed with fun events that include Hat and Crazy Sock Day, Sports Day, Necktie and Dad-n-Donuts Day, Mismatch and Silly Day, and is concluded with Beach Day. Immediately after Lutheran Schools Week we will be focusing on the letter "S" and Beth Duman will be visiting us with her "snakes” - the children are more than excited about this event! While February seems to have ended rather quickly, it was accelerated by the number of snow days we had - and now the children are even more excited for Spring to be upon us. The preschool staff is busy preparing for a St. Patrick's Day celebration and an exciting Easter Party that will be followed by a much needed Spring Break. Green Room - Mrs. Branch The Green Room has been busy since the start of the new year. If you have been in our classroom you may have noticed that we now have many items labeled. If you are asking "Why does it say TABLE on the table?" I will answer you the same way I did Erika Y. The labels are there to help you learn to read. She then went on to say "I know what this says, chair", at the time she was pointing to the label on the chair. Great job Erika. Some of the topics we have been studying include, space, winter, and senses. The children had fun guessing what was in the FEELY BOX using only their sense of touch. One morning our sensory table was filled with snow and there were mittens for the children to use while experiencing cold wet snow inside. Purple Room - Mrs. Manross We are doing so many fun and exciting things in school! Our Valentines party with the Red Room was wonderful; filled with lots of centers for the children, including crafts and games. The children exchanged Valentine cards and learned the story of the first Valentine from Mrs. Kull. In spite of the winter chill, we have been staying warm inside with music and singing songs with Pastor Dave, to sing on March 2nd here at the 11:00 service, in honor of Lutheran schools week. The children have been working very hard learning the songs. We also have been learning about planets and space this month and making rockets! The children really enjoy pretending they are astronauts and playing with the space toys. We learned about Presidents this month and what an important job they have! We made George Washington wigs and Abraham Lincoln top hats. We are also learning our Pledge of Allegiance in class. We learned many things have changed over the years with our country! Drop in anytime to see us and say hello to the children. We would love to meet you! Red Room – Mrs. MacLean Children have been working hard all year with recognizing the alphabet letters and the sounds they make with our new Zoo-phonics program. The children have enjoyed this program and have been using it to identify and to write both first and last names. It is so rewarding to see the growth and development that the children have made since the beginning of the year. We just celebrated Valentine’s Day with a fantastic party thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers. We are currently learning about Presidents and identifying some of our important leaders. The children are anxiously waiting to be chosen as President and Vice President for the day in the classroom where they can experience making some important decisions (it is neat to watch them role play). Pastor Dave has been busy working with the children on some songs that the children will be singing at the church service on March 2nd at 11:00. The children always enjoy time with Pastor Dave and in Chapel. We look forward to the month of March as we approach our Easter celebration. Yellow Room – Mrs. Vamvounis In February these 3-year-olds have been exploring space. They had a "blast" making spaceships and will move on to making flying saucers and robots. During our study of Presidents we examined pennies and discovered that Abraham Lincoln's image appears twice on each penny. The children especially enjoyed our science experiments involving cleaning pennies by soaking them in multiple different solutions. Our Valentine's Day Party was a delight thanks to the many wonderful parent volunteers who organized and "ran the show". The Yellow Room is blessed with supportive families. As we continue to move through the alphabet it is wonderful to see that the children are able to recall so many of their Zoo-phonic friends - all the letters from A to R have been fun so far and the children have had an especially good time relating to the puppet animals. Little Saints Christian Preschool Making a Difference in the Lives of Young Children
How Their Parents Are Making A Difference In Our Home at All Saints Most of the preschool staff are not members of All Saints - but they care about this building and are committed to taking care of it as much as if they were. One morning two of the Teacher Assistant's went into the kitchen to find that whoever had used the kitchen the evening the night before had left the coffee pots on and somehow they had "boiled" themselves dry in such a way that there was coffee dripping down the wall, plastered to the bottom of the white overhead cabinets, dried to the countertops, and two pots were dry-coated with sticky coffee residue. It was a pretty big mess - that they didn't make but they took it upon themselves to take care of God's house because we all live here together. Thanks to them for going above and beyond their duties. One snowy morning a preschool parent took it upon herself to stay after dropping off her daughter to stay and shovel the church sidewalks - just because it needed to be done. She knew that there were people coming and going and that because the snow was continuing to fall that we needed interim help before the clearing service would return - instead of complaining or reporting the condition to the church office she grabbed a shovel and took care of it herself.
