Your DLM Update: February 2008 So what is a DLM again? In case your new to All Saints or missed some newsletters, I thought I would review this acronym of DLM. DLM stands for Director of Lay Ministries. What that means is a designated individual who seeks to support all ministries and all members through identifying needs and matching that need with a member or disciple who has a heart or a gift for that need. Your DLM also seeks to welcome all visitors and guests and help them along the way as they desire to come into membership with us. As Pastor Dave has said, I have the honor of helping people match their “greatest joy with the church’s greatest need”. I take this ministry to heart. I try to have a heart with eyes and ears, always watching and listening for unique needs that can be met by a unique talent. I can’t tell you the joy I get watching people plug in and further the Kingdom with a gift they sometimes take for granted. God has blessed us so richly, and I get to watch His seeds grow daily through YOU. Ask me about it sometime☺ Walking in Membership We welcomed 13 new people into membership in January. Joining us are Mary and Jerry Brooks, Gina Anderson, Ruth Kerbyson with fifth grader Kaitlyn, Bev and Ed Weiss, Judy Hernandez with young Joshua and baby Jacob, and Erin Schreiner with baby Lucas. Many of them are already diving into ministry and sharing the wonderful gifts that God has blessed them with. Please take the opportunity to find and welcome them and see what interests you might have in common. Watch the “Family You Should Get to Know” wall for their pictures to make the connecting even easier. Our next “Exploring Membership” opportunity comes in April. Please join us on April 26th from 9 AM to 2 PM to find out more and then on April 27th at the 11:00 service for a membership recognition service. Our Newest Ministries Two new ministries started at All Saints in January that are focused around fun and fellowship. They are both yet to be named but cover a large scope of people here at All Saints. The first group is the 20-40somethings group. They met for the first time on January 18th and had a game night. A Euchre night is planned for February, so watch the Herald and come with your game face on! Child care is provided for this fellowship opportunity. Please contact Laura Drzazgowski at 248.887.3258 with questions. The second group is the 40-60somethings group. They met for the first time on January 15th and had a blast brainstorming all the things they would do in 2008. Their first fellowship night will happen in March with a wine tasting and pairings night. Please contact Beth Tinsley at 810.632.6496 for further information. Remember to look for our “family” collage that from a distance looks like just Christ the Good Shepherd but up close is really your fellow brothers and sisters here at All Saints. Also, check out the “Family You Should Get to Know” wall where you can find pictures of new members and your current Council representatives. I am never more than a call or email away. Please feel free to reach me with your encouragement, questions or concerns directly at 248.318.9098 or at katezywicki@cs.com. God knows that I can’t do any of this without YOU! Keep encouraging one another in Christ!
