Your DLM Update

January 2008

It is hard to believe that I have been in my ministry for over a year now.  How can it be that it seems like just yesterday that I started, yet when I think that I used to be Worship and Music Chair, that ministry seems like a lifetime ago?  I guess this is the life of doing ministry and it is not a surprise to God.  He knows His plans for us and our gifts; He is sometimes just waiting for us to listen. 

Is it time to turn the corner?  It is time to get out of our comfort zone and step out in faith?  Is it time to step up in leadership?  Is it time to be the hands, eyes, ears, or feet of Christ because we’ve already been another part of the Body?  My prayer for you as we launch into this New Year is that you’ll stop and listen.  Listen to where God is calling you.  If you then need help getting connected, let’s talk.  My “listening” over the last year as DLM has equipped me with the knowledge of where we can all connect here at All Saints.

Exploring Membership

As your Director of Lay Ministries (DLM), it is my privilege to connect with guests and members of the congregation.  There are many ways to connect like services, fellowship opportunities, phone calls, and email.  When we connect, we get to find out common interests and goals and this helps grow the Body of Christ.  Yet another way to connect is to find out more about the various ministries of All Saints.  A good way to do this is to attend a membership opportunity session, now known as “Exploring Membership”.

In 2008, there are four quarterly opportunities available to ANYONE who walks into All Saints’ doors.  These sessions are a time to find out about your Lutheran history, what happens in worship, what exactly is stewardship, how to build a closer relationship with God, and what ministries are available at All Saints.  Therefore, if you’ve been attending for years or just walked in that door, you are welcome to come, hear and bring those questions.  It is also a time to be able to ask questions directly of Pastor Dave that relate to your walk here at All Saints.

Service/Reception Sundays are also “Picture Sunday”, a time when we can capture photos to add to the archives and photo directory.

Remember to look for our “family” collage that from a distance looks like just Christ the Good Shepherd but up close is really your fellow brothers and sisters here at All Saints.  Also, check out the “Family You Should Get to Know” wall where you can find pictures of new members and hopefully soon your Council representatives.
