Unique
Ministries
This
newest ministry of All Saints is focused on bringing the good news of Jesus
Christ to those who are not connected with a church home of any kind. As Jesus said to his disciples, in Acts 1:8:,
“but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you
will be my witnesses in
Those
who have never been involved in a church are unlikely to attend a worship
service in a church building and would be lost in a traditional Lutheran
setting. Christ’s command compels us to
reach out to this segment of our community, but doing so requires creative
thinking and different sorts of activities, facilities, and events, like the
ongoing “random acts of kindness” (ask Pastor Pamela about these!).
7
Guiding Principles:
1.
God is love, Jesus is the Savior, the Holy Spirit is our guide!
2. Love frees and changes people.
3. Everyone is welcome: God loves you, so do we!
4. Everybody has something to offer!
5. The world needs what we have!
6. God loves everyone and everybody needs to
know!
7. We are ONE body!

Little
Saints Christian Preschool is a child enrichment ministry of All Saints
Lutheran Church. We are dedicated to
serving our community, supporting parents, and above all providing Christian
nurture and care for children. This is
accomplished through programs emphasizing the development of a positive self
concept, basic physical, intellectual and social skills, responsible attitudes
and an awareness of God’s love through Christ.

Office Volunteers
Coordinator: Karen Parrish or Karen@myallsaints.com
Current
hours: T & Th 9-3
Office volunteers help in various ways during office hours
including: answering and making phone
calls, assisting with bulletin preparation for worship services, occasional
folding, copying, mailing projects, and other basic office tasks.
There are also specific projects where a volunteer may be needed
for data entry, spreadsheet maintenance, etc.
This is an invaluable way to support your church staff and your church
family.
Tidy Teams
Leader: contact Kevin Keller, 248-933-3973 or kkrew10@yahoo.com
What are they? Teams of six or more people gather on a Tuesday or whenever team leader is able to get a time that a Team of at least six people can get together to clean.
What is the purpose? Clean All Saints Lutheran Church.
What is the time commitment? It should be about two hours with at least six people.
The TIDY TEAMS will be rotated. We are striving to have at least six teams of six.
FAQ: Can I choose what to clean? Yes, you may but the TIDY TEAM needs to follow the “tidy list” of things to do. The important thing to remember is: "If it needs to be done, let's do it." Could I just be a substitute? Yes, you may. You’ll be on call just in case a TIDY TEAM member can’t make it.
Why Tuesday and Saturday? We need to do a thorough cleaning of the church. It is in our best interest to keep the church clean. It also is a substantial savings on our budget.
We clean the church on Tuesdays, beginning at 9am. We’d like to have a Saturday Tidy Team, too. If you can’t make it on either day, then maybe the next time that you are at All Saints Lutheran Church and you see a cleaning thing to do just step right up and do it and know that you have helped to keep God’s church clean.
Why not come on a Tuesday
morning and join the Team to see what it is all about? We’ll even have a
break or two for coffee and munchies. It really is FUN to clean the
church with other members of the Tidy Team.
Creative Saints in Fellowship
Do you enjoy the fellowship
of All Saints Christian women? Do you like doing some easy crafts, especially
when you can chat with church friends? Creative
Saints in Fellowship is a daytime group meeting on the first Monday of the
month, from 1-3 p.m.
Some of our outreach projects
have been making everything from blankets for the neonatal department at Huron
Valley-Sinai Hospital to quilts and making special cards for our parishioners. No special talent is needed or
required. However, we would surely enjoy your company, so come and join this
loose-knit group.

Holtz (248-889-3040) or

Confirmation, formally begins with grade six. Those in grades six and seven
meet on Sunday morning during the education time. The focus in sixth grade is the Old Testament
and the rich stories and history there. Seventh grade class explores the New
Testament and really digs into the Gospels. Eighth grade meets on Wednesday
evening, currently at the parish house, with Pastor Dave. Third year covers the

WAMO oversees worship planning, worship assistants,

leaders and altar guild, in short, all areas of and
participants in worship
leadership. At our monthly meetings we deal with
problems, blessings,
changes and issues within these groups and in all elements
of worship at
ASLC. We try to stay abreast of current thoughts regarding
all styles of
worship and open to new directions in which God would like
to lead
us. Meetings are informal and are open to all with ideas to
share about
worship.
Worship Planning For Morning
Worship
Meeting Day: TBD
Meeting Time: TBD
Leaders: Julie Markwart
The worship planners meet 3-4 times a year and plan
God-centered liturgical
worship well in advance of calendar dates. They
usually meet on a Saturday
morning either at AS or the house of a member, each team
member having done
a fair amount of preparatory "homework". We work
well into the day and try
to incorporate some snacks and fun as well as hard work. If
you have ideas
and thoughts about hymn and liturgical setting selection
contact one of us
so you will be notified about our next planning marathon.

The
purpose of the 11:00 AM Liturgical Choir
is to serve the 11:00 a.m. Sunday worship service by providing leadership and
encouragement to the congregation in singing the psalms, liturgy, hymns, and
prayers of worship. The cantor for the day is a part of this group, sometimes
singing the verses for the psalm as well as the Kyrie. There is opportunity to
sing harmony as well as unison, develop skills as a cantor, and share your love
of singing. Weekday practices are used to learn new hymns and liturgies to
introduce to the congregation and also to rehearse harmonies and psalms. Please
come!
Special Music Ministry
All Saints welcomes all those who have a desire to share
their God-given
musical gifts with our parishioners to do so during worship.
This sharing
can be done as offertory music, music during the communion,
prelude or
postlude music, or perhaps at a seasonal special event.
Instrumental or
vocal soloists or small groups are equally welcomed and
appreciated. No
particular level of skill is required; a passion for
bringing glory to God
through music is.

Our ministry is to
bring the Word of God to life during Sunday worship. We feel that the Word is
not only relevant to our walk with Christ in the modern world, but provides
compelling and colorful illustrations of the daily struggle people have faced
since before the time of Christ. Our hope is that we can present the stories of
the Bible in a way that overcomes the Monday Syndrome.

Acolytes
have the honor of leading the congregation in worship as they perform several
important tasks. They bring the symbol of Christ’s presence into the sanctuary
as they light the candles, they assist in receiving the gifts which are brought
forward after the offering, they help with distributing Holy Communion to the
congregation, they serve communion to the pastor and the assisting minister,
and most important of all they lead the congregation by example. As they sit in
the front of the worship space, with the pastors and the lay assisting
minister, their attitude and participation in worship helps those who are
watching focus on God and the real reasons we gather together for worship in
the first place. It is a great responsibility, but an even greater honor to
serve God in this way.

becoming more active in church activities and community. Additionally,
performing property tasks together builds relationships and provides an
opportunity to serve God with immediate and tangible results.
Property
Committee responsibilities include maintenance of the church building and
surrounding facilities. Activities include: building repair, new equipment or
facility installations and coordinating all maintenance from cleaning to lawn
maintenance and snow removal.

sponsor an annual rummage sale and the proceeds go toward helping fill the
needs in the congregation and in the community. In 2004, proceeds were distributed,
along with 50% matching funds from the Livingston County Chapter of Thrivent
Financial, to identified families of our congregation in extreme financial
need.
Mom to Mom
Day:
Saturdays, typically 9-1
Time:
traditionally twice a year, once in fall, once in spring
Leader:
Jenny Stromlund and Little Saints Christian Preschool
This
is an opportunity to reach out to the community while providing an opportunity
to sell and purchase gently used children’s items. Sellers rent table space, make their items
available for sale, and then keep all their proceeds. All Saints makes the space available for a
low table rental fee and charges a low shopper’s fee and usually runs a bake
sale as well. This is a great
fundraising opportunity for all involved.

Coffeehouse
Ministry
Date:

All Saints hosts Coffeehouse/Open Mic nights annually.
All those with a performance to
share are welcome. This event attempts to bring in non-All Saints’

venue for all sorts of talent.
Prayer
Shawl Ministry
Date: TBD as interest is
shown
Contact: Ruth Sykes
The shawl ministry was probably 50% talking and 50% knitting
and crocheting shawls....each shawl as it is made was prayed on and as we would
hear of a need for comfort in someone’s life (sickness, lost of a love one,
divorce) they would be presented with a shawl and card informing them of the
ministry and the prayers that we knitted or crochets into each stitch....though
the giving of the shawl is important, the get together and fellowship was also important
to those involved.
Love Day
Date: First and Third
Thursdays of each month, starting at
Contact: Mim Zurn
This is a ministry that works in connection with the larger
Lutheran mission to reach out and provide quilts to those in need throughout
the world. No sewing knowledge is
required. Some sewing is done, but the
final “quilting” is done through hand tieing.
Very often some of those quilts are available for purchase and the
proceeds go back to making more quilts or to the larger Lutheran Mission,
ACTION. ACTION is an auxiliary group of
Lutheran Social Services that fund raises and provides needed materials for
various missions.
Adopt-A-Road
Program:
Date: as scheduled
Contact: Bill Johnston
This is a State of
The task is simple to state.
Three times a year (designated by the state to coincide with the States
grass cutting) we pick up litter in our 3 miles. In a perfect world it takes 14
volunteers. It can be done in about one
hour. We have done it with 7 (tough). “Many hands make the work light”.
This is in no-way for everybody. The State rules require the minimum age to
be 15 (12 if accompanied by a parent).
Volunteers must be healthy enough to walk at least a mile, bending and
stooping along the way while picking up other peoples liter, while cars zoom
past you at 55+ MPH. Tiring though it
may be, it is in-fact feel-good work.
Please consider joining us the next pick-up date.

This is a project on the books. Please see an example in the narthex of just
one of the proposed ideas for the outdoor space we have available on the
central west side of the building. It is
projected that this will be a space for quiet contemplation, amidst God’s
beauty, with things to remind us of the Saints that have gone before us. If you are interested, please contact the
leader for updated details.
